From Rare Cane, a new indy rum bottler based in Washington state, this wild and unique high ester rum was distilled at some of Jamaica's finest distilleries before being shipped to the US and finished in Madeira style wine casks. The resulting rum is absolutely mind-blowing in both its complexity and intensity. Without any sugar added one might expect this to be arresting and dry, but the supple rich flavors of the maderized wine pair perfectly with the dense fruity esters of the traditional rum. If you love Docter Bird or Smith & Cross and want to step it up a few notches, this is the rum for you. At 68% this is surprisingly sipable, but the cocktail crowd will find ample use for it as well.
